Mr Kavickumar, Head (Eco-Certifications)/Lead Environmental Engineer of Singapore Environment Council, and Mr Watanabe Shunichi, Managing Director of Casio Singapore Pte Ltd, celebrating the successful green-label certification of Casio’s range of projectors as environmentally friendly under the Singapore Green Labelling Scheme (SGLS). As part of Casio’s greening efforts, we gave a presentation on our Green Label certification scheme to 90 guests on 11 December 2015.

Singapore, 30 October 2015 - Singapore’s most recognised ecolabel, the Green Label, which is administered by the Singapore Environment Council (SEC), received a global boost with its election into the Global Ecolabelling Network’s (GEN) Board on 29 October 2015. This is the first time an ecolabelling body from Singapore sits on the board of an international ecolabelling network of 29 countries.

Singapore, 28 October 2015 – The Singapore Environment Council (SEC) today signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) with the Japan Environment Association (JEA) to promote each other’s eco-certification and green best practices.

Singapore, 7 October 2015 – The Singapore Environment Council (SEC) and Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) are stepping up its engagement efforts to get leading supermarkets, pharmacies and furniture retailers to declare that they have not procured or used wood, paper and/or pulp materials from the companies accused of causing fires in Indonesia. These actions are being taken shortly after our press statement issued on Monday informing that ten companies with paper products certified under the Singapore Green Labelling Scheme (SGLS) administered by the SEC and sold in Singapore have no links to those companies causing fires in Indonesia.

The Singapore Environment Council announced that up to 3000 has since been awarded SGLS certificaiton since it start adminstering the scheme in 1999..

As part of our efforts to keep up with the changing needs of the industry, we are constantly considering new product categories to be incorporated under the Singapore Green Labelling Scheme (SGLS). We are pleased to announce our new product category for Eco- friendly products ; SGLS Category 72 - Eco-Friendly products. The new assessment criteria for Eco-Friendly products will be effective from 11 August 2015.

As part of our continuous effort to maintain relevance of Green Label to the current industries, we have appointed Ernst & Young LLP to help in the criteria revision. We are pleased to inform that the new criteria for SGLS Category 65: Furniture and Fittings will be effective from 1 August 2015.
